In October and November, you can experience the autumn of Aso with a morning hike along the caldera.

We are holding a Caldera Sunset Hike to watch the sunset!

All of the hikes are relatively easy to climb, allowing you to fully enjoy the natural beauty of Aso.

We also offer special coffee that has been well received by participants.

Sarayama Caldera Morning Hike

Although this is a beginner-friendly course, it allows you to experience the power of Aso's caldera up close.

Sarayama is also one of the routes to climb Mt. Nakadake and Mt. Takadake. It is also recommended for those who want to climb Mt. Nakadake and Mt. Takadake someday.

If you're lucky, you might come across a mystical landscape shrouded in a sea of clouds or morning mist.

Mt. Kishima - Caldera Morning Hike / Caldera Sunset Hike

This is a varied course aimed at beginners, where you can also enjoy walking around the crater at the summit.

The contrast between the golden silver grass and the shining crimson sky is truly breathtakingly beautiful.

If you're lucky, you might encounter a mystical landscape shrouded in a sea of clouds or morning mist on your morning hike.

On a sunset hike, you can experience the magnificent sunset of Mt. Aso from the summit of Mt. Kishima.

① Sarayama Caldera Morning Hike

・Date: Saturday, October 4, 2025 *Will proceed even in light rain

・Time: 7:00-10:30 (Registration begins at 6:45)

Distance and difficulty: 4.4km round trip, elevation gain approximately 201m, beginner level

Location: In front of the outdoor toilet at the paid parking lot on Mount Aso

*This is not Kusasenrigahama Parking Lot.

② Mt. Kishima Caldera Sunset Hike

・Date: Saturday, October 25, 2025 *Will proceed even in light rain

・Time: 16:00-18:30 (Registration begins at 15:45)

Distance and difficulty: 3.7km round trip, elevation gain of approximately 200m, beginner level

Location: Kusasenrigahama Parking Lot (Google Maps link: Kusasenrigahama Parking Lot)

*The event will be held even if the weather is cloudy and the sunset cannot be seen.

3. Morning hike to Mt. Kishima and the caldera

・Date: Saturday, November 1, 2025 *Will proceed even if it rains lightly

・Time: 7:00-9:30 (reception begins at 6:45)

Distance and difficulty: 3.7km round trip, elevation gain of approximately 200m, beginner level

Location: Kusasenrigahama Parking Lot (Google Maps link: Kusasenrigahama Parking Lot)

Participation fee (tax included)

Per person: Adults (13 years and over) 3,000 yen / Children (12 years and under) 1,000 yen

*Payment must be made in cash on the day.

Capacity: 20 people (first come, first served)

Eligibility and participation conditions

・Those who can participate wearing comfortable athletic shoes and clothing

*Trekking experience is not required

・Comfortable athletic shoes/hiking boots/trekking shoes

・Rainwear

・Warm clothing (something you can put on)/hat/

Lunch (easy-to-eat sandwiches, rice balls, etc. are recommended)

・Drinks (about 1L)

・There are no toilets in the parking lot or along the course.

・Death/permanent disability: up to 3 million yen

・When you receive treatment or surgery: Mutual aid payments will be made according to the area and symptoms.
